Behavior Expectations The blue slip system is in effect in all junior high classrooms. Failure to comply with the behavioral expectations listed below will result in a blue slip. With a blue slip, students will be relegated to table washing duty and will miss the following TGIF. Parents are contacted the Friday following an infraction.
A.Unprepared for class B.Chewing Gum C.Uniform Violations D.Disruptive Behavior E.Disrespecting Others F.Not having homework Students who have not earned blue slips are rewarded with a TGIF. Every other Friday, the junior high breaks 20-25 minutes early for TGIFs. During this time, students have a recess in the new gym, old gym or outside. Sometimes, other rewards are included, such as snacks. Students who have earned blue slips work with two of the junior high teachers for a reflection. At this time, students consider ways to avoid future blue slips.

Seventh Grade Language Arts:
"Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere." -Chinese Proverb
Seventh grade language arts will explore the theme of a Chinese proverb: “Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.” Students will explore this theme by reading and writing about characters and people (including themselves) who have learned some of life’s most important lessons. Each quarter will explore a different kind of learning. In addition to the structured curriculum, students will independently read a minimum of one selected novel per quarter and complete an accompanying project.
Eighth Grade Language Arts:
"The Voice of the Other"
This year’s English literature and writing component will focus on characters and historical figures who have taken the risk to be “The Voice of the Other.” We will be studying characters and people who have spoken for others (or themselves) when it was not the most popular thing to do. Each quarter will reflect one component of this theme and the courage it takes to actualize each element. In addition to the structured curriculum, students will independently read a minimum of one selected novel per quarter and complete an accompanying project.
